Erin O'Toole was declared the winner of an online Conservative leadership debate held on Wednesday between Derek Sloan, Leslyn Lewis, and O'Toole.
According to a survey of viewers taken after the debates, 37 percent of viewers thought the Ontario-based O'Toole had the strongest performance.
While 26 percent of viewers believed that Lewis had the strongest performance and 24 percent of viewers believed that Sloan looked best.
Peter MacKay did not attend the debate for undefined reasons.
In a pre-debate survey, 33 percent of viewers said they supported Erin O'Toole, which was the same amount of support given to Lewis. Sloan only received 19 percent of the support.
As a result of this, O'Toole and Sloan were able to impress a significant number of people. Lewis, presumably, will be disappointed with her performance.
The debate was held by Vancouver Centre Conservative Association—meaning some of the questions were heavily BC focused. The event was backed by all 42 riding associations in the province.
Voting is now underway in the Conservative leadership election, with mail-in ballots due for August 21. The results are expected to be declared a week after this deadline.
