ESPN spreads Bubba Wallace noose hoax AGAIN

"Last year, a noose was found in Bubba Wallace's stall at Talladega Superspeedway. The next day, the NASCAR community stood with him in unity," ESPN wrote in a Twitter post linked to the video.

Ahead of ESPN's E60 Monday evening special regarding NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace, the sports news outlet posted a trailer talking about the noose incident over one year after the FBI determined that it was a garage door pull rope.

The trailer features the emotional moment in which Wallace, the only black driver in NASCAR's Cup Series, was supported by the NASCAR community the day after a noose was allegedly found in his garage.

"Last year, a noose was found in Bubba Wallace's stall at Talladega Superspeedway. The next day, the NASCAR community stood with him in unity," ESPN wrote in a Twitter post linked to the video.

"I was like, 'Holy s---, it's the whole garage.' ... That's when I lost it," said Wallace.

ESPN itself posted about the FBI's findings, in which they came to the conclusion in June of 2020 that Wallace was not a victim of a hate crime.

"The FBI report concludes, and photographic evidence confirms, that the garage door pull rope fashioned like a noose had been positioned there since as early as last fall," NASCAR said in its statement following the FB'Is findings. "This was obviously well before the 43 team's arrival and garage assignment."

"We appreciate the FBI's quick and thorough investigation and are thankful to learn that this was not an intentional, racist act against Bubba. We remain steadfast in our commitment to providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for all who love racing," the statement continued.

The FBI determined that the garage door pull rope had been in place as early as the October of 2019.

In response to those that called the incident a hoax, Wallace told CNN: "This will not break me, none of the allegations of being a hoax will break me or tear me down. Will it piss me off? Absolutely. But that only fuels the competitive drive in me to shut everybody up."

Wallace also stressed that both NASCAR and the FBI had previously referred to the door pull as a "noose," and despite the FBI's conclusion, he still called it a noose.

"It was a noose that, whether tied in 2019 or whatever, it was a noose," Wallace said. "It wasn't directed at me, but somebody tied a noose, that's what I'm saying. It is a noose."

The FBI determined that the noose was found in a garage that no one would have known the exact number leading up to the incident.

"The FBI learned that garage number 4, where the noose was found, was assigned to Bubba Wallace last week. The investigation also revealed evidence, including authentic video confirmed by NASCAR, that the noose found in garage number 4 was in that garage as early as October 2019. Although the noose is now known to have been in garage number 4 in 2019, nobody could have known Mr. Wallace would be assigned to garage number 4 last week," the Department of Justice stated.
