A member of Washington’s Human Rights Commission and of the Northshore school board in Bothell, WA is under fire after mourning the death of the head of Hamas.

After the death of the architect of the October 7, 2023 massacre in Israel, Yahya Sinwar, was announced, Northshore School District board member Han Tran posted a quote on Instagram that read, “I only have my pen, I'll throw it at the occupation soldiers if they invade even if it's the last thing I do.”

The quote was posted after a video went viral showing the head of Hamas sitting in a chair throwing a stick at a drone after being discovered by the Israel Defense Forces.

The quote was by a Palestinian poet and Hamas supporter, Refaat Alareer, who told the BBC on October 7, 2023, as the Hamas atrocities, including rape, kidnapping, and torture were being revealed to the world, “an attack by Palestinian resistance is legitimate & moral."

He then made a false moral equivalence and compared the atrocities to the Warsaw Ghetto uprising against the Nazis, adding: "This is exactly like the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. This is the Gaza Ghetto uprising against 100 years of European and Zionist colonialism and occupation."

In April 1943, Jews in the Warsaw Ghetto, knowing the population was going to be exterminated in concentration camps, fought back against the Nazis and attacked the German soldiers. The Jewish insurgents didn’t attack, rape, torture, or murder civilians as Palestinian terrorists did. Nor did they murder the elderly and children or massacre civilians at a music festival.

Tran was appointed to the commission by Democratic Governor Jay Inslee and was endorsed by almost every local Democratic organization for her school board position, despite a history of social media posts calling for the genocide of Jews.

In May, Tran was a panelist discussing a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war with known antisemite Linda Sarsour, who was fired from the Women's March for her vile Jew-hatred. The panel also included Imraan Siddiqi, the head of the Washington branch of the Council for American Islamic Relations (CAIR), an organization that was listed as an unindicted co-conspirator in the largest terror trial in US history. The group has also been described as a branch of Hamas in the US.

Also featured on the Beyond Ceasefire panel was antisemitic State Sen Yasmin Trudeau (D) & Bothell Deputy Mayor Rami Al Kabra who, on October 7, 2023, was caught on video scuffling with Israel supporters while wearing a Hamas keffiyeh.

Tran has posts dating back to 2021 that proclaim “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free,” an antisemitic phrase calling for the ethnic cleansing of all Jews from Israel. Tran was also present at a 2021 anti-Israel rally where far-left protesters, including Antifa, demanded the destruction of Israel as they burned an Israeli flag while assaulting pro-Israel civilians.

The event commemorated the 73rd anniversary of what Palestinians describe as the “Nakba,” meaning “the disaster,” referring to the creation of the modern state of Israel and how a nation of Holocaust survivors and farmers repelled surrounding Arab neighbors who attacked in 1948 bent on wholesale slaughter of Jews.

Participants at the rally chanted “Long live the Intifada,” which refers to a violent uprising that targets Israeli civilians. In 2000, over 1,000 people in Israel, including Christians and Muslims, were slaughtered in terrorist attacks. The rally attendees also called for a single state in which Israel would no longer exist.

After her violent vitriol was exposed, Tran’s X account was suspended. During her campaign for school board in response to the backlash, once her antisemitism was revealed, Tran wrote a statement that did not apologize for her comments but instead attempted a moral equivalence between Israel and Hamas terrorists.

She then continued to post antisemitism on her other platforms, most notably Instagram. After Tran was elected, antisemitic activists began lobbying the district to start teaching the Hamas narrative in classrooms, knowing they had an ally in Tran.

Tran also backed the antisemitic staff of the Wing Luke Museum in Seattle that walked out to protest a Jewish, Black & Asian exhibit on racism. The protest forced the museum to close and the exhibit was removed. Tran also attended last month's anti-Israel music festival in Seattle where rapper Macklemore said "F*ck America."
