EXCLUSIVE: Sex offender indicted on child pornography after Dems release him from Washington 'pedo island' facility

A former inmate at a secure prison island in Washington for sex offenders has been indicted for receipt and possession of images of child sexual abuse. This after Democrats passed a law making it easier for offenders to be released from McNeil Island, a facility made for violent sexual offenders. 

71–year-old Alan Lewis Meirhofer was indicted this week by a federal grand jury for receipt and possession of images of child sexual abuse. According to US Attorney Tessa M. Gorman, Meirhofer was originally charged in state court after a teen boy saw images of child sexual abuse on a phone he borrowed from the defendant. The teen gave the phone to his mother, who called law enforcement. Meirhofer was later arrested in March 2021 and his devices were seized. 

According to the criminal complaint obtained by The Ari Hoffman Show on Talk Radio 570 KVI, Meirhofer allegedly befriended teen boys in Skagit County, Washington, inviting them to hang out at his home. He would provide them “gifts’ such as clothing, cash, alcohol, food, and marijuana. After a boy borrowed the phone, he took note that Meirhofer sent images of his friends to some in a group chat and saw depictions of child sexual abuse on the phone. 

The FBI asked the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, (NCMEC) for any cyber tips associated with internet accounts linked to Meirhofer and received over a dozen reports of images of child sexual abuse linked to accounts controlled by the defendant. Meirhofer was taken into federal custody on July 17, 2024.

According to the US Attorney, due to his prior convictions, Meirhofer now faces increased penalties if convicted. Meirhofer was convicted in 1988 of burglary, kidnapping and rape. In 1990, Meirhofer was convicted of Burglary in the First Degree While Armed with a Deadly Weapon and Assault in the Second Degree.

He was civilly committed to the sexually violent predator Civil Commitment Center on McNeil Island, an incarceration facility for violent sexual predators, but was released in 2017, despite being a level three registered sex offender, classified as the highest risk of reoffending. He was diagnosed with “pedophilia, paraphilia not otherwise specified nonconsent, and personality disorder” in 2000, per court documents. State experts estimated his risk of reoffending in the range of 49 percent to 92 percent. If he is convicted, Meirhofer faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in prison or up to 20 years in prison.

In 2021, Washington Democrats passed legislation that amended state law to make it easier to equally distribute conditionally released sexually violent predators which they refer to as "residents" in counties across the state. The legislation created what Democratic lawmakers called "fair share principals," requiring each county in Washington to provide community-based housing for conditionally released sexually violent predators who are from their respective counties.

Democrat Governor Jay Inslee, Democrat Attorney General Bob Ferguson, who is running to replace Inslee, and other progressive politicians in the state have been working with the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) and the Department of Corrections (DOC) to execute the legislation by depopulating McNeil Island and releasing the offenders who are likely to re-offend into different locations.

In 2023, Inslee vetoed parts of a bill that would have required tribes and communities to receive advance notice if a sexually violent predator is relocated into their neighborhoods. Now, the level 3 offenders are being dropped in unsuspecting neighborhoods with no notice, many times into facilities with minimal security and supervision.
