One of the far-left groups involved in violent protests outside a Turning Point USA event at UC Berkeley on Monday was “Students Organizing for Liberation,” an unregistered student group allied with Jewish Voice for Peace and socialist organizations.

The group took responsibility for the demonstrations in an Instagram post, writing, “Thank you for standing with People of Color, Immigrants, LGBTQI+, The Poor, muslims, and all oppressed people in the face of fascism.”

“Together, we successfully delayed the action by nearly an hour and a half, forcing TPUSA to rush through the presentation. Because of the rush, we learned that UC Berkeley Chancellor Richard Lyons was in attendance and was called upon by failed parent Rob Schneider.”

The Turning Point USA event, part of its “This is the Turning Point” tour, featured Dr. Frank Turek and actor Rob Schneider and drew more than 300 attendees. Before the event, a brawl broke out near the campus, leaving a man injured with a facial wound. Violent protesters wearing keffiyehs prompted police to deploy riot gear to disperse the crowd.

Throughout the night, some demonstrators attempted to break down barriers, set off fireworks, and use tear gas bombs in efforts to intimidate attendees. Protesters also mocked the death of Charlie Kirk, chanting “F*** your dead homie” and labeling attendees Nazis and fascists.

According to Fox News, UC Berkeley Assistant Vice Chancellor Dan Mogulof said in a statement regarding the clash that "UC Berkeley always works to support the rights and ability of all speakers to participate in events hosted by student organizations without regard for their beliefs and perspectives."
