A far-left protester demonstrating outside a Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) party in Washington, DC, on Saturday night was detained after spitting at attendees, including conservative podcaster Patrick Bet-David.

Videos from the scene show protesters blasting music, chanting "Fascists out of DC," and holding signs with messages such as "Elon’s a con." As the demonstration continued, law enforcement warned the group that they were violating DC law by disturbing the peace after 10 pm and were required to stop making "unreasonable noise."

At one point, Bet-David exited the event and approached the protesters to hear why they were protesting. Protesters continued to shout at him until one spit in his direction. The individual was immediately detained by nearby police.

“His spit hit the special agent in the back,” Bet-David explained in a post on X reacting to the video. “Cops moved in very quickly.  He was arrested instantly.  Bunch of cowards who have no clue how to have a discourse.“

The party coincided with the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), which concluded Saturday night after a speech by President Donald Trump. Also present was Elon Musk, who used a chainsaw as a prop to symbolize his efforts to cut government waste.

Musk and DOGE have faced intense backlash for efforts to reduce government spending and increase efficiency. A recent Washington Post poll found that only 34 percent of Americans approve of Musk’s role in the administration. However, Trump continues to support Musk’s efforts and has urged him to take even stronger action.

"Elon is doing a great job, but I would like to see him get more aggressive,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post over the weekend. “Remember, we have a country to save, but ultimately to make greater than ever before.”
