"You can run, you can’t hide. We are coming after you federally. If you assault a police officer, if you rob a store, if you loot, if you spit on police officers, we’re coming after you."
Attorney General Pam Bondi revealed the news during a Monday night appearance on Fox News’ Hannity, announcing that Elpidio Reyna has been named as the individual seen on video allegedly assaulting federal officers in Paramount, California. The incident occurred on Saturday around 3:30 pm on Alondra Boulevard, when rocks were thrown at law enforcement vehicles who were driving by, injuring at least one federal officer and damaging government property.
The FBI had initially offered a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspect, who was considered armed and dangerous. That tip led to his identification, and authorities have since executed a search warrant at Reyna’s residence. The investigation remains ongoing as federal authorities work to locate and apprehend Reyna.
"The FBI has identified him," Bondi said during her interview. "That guy has just been identified, and they are doing a search warrant on his house as we speak… He is going to be on the Most Wanted list."
US Attorney for the Central District of California Bill Essayli wrote, "WANTED: Elpidio Reyna can run, but he can’t hide. He threw rocks at federal officers leaving a command post in Paramount on Saturday, a brazen attack caught on film and that could have resulted in deaths. Reyna, 40, is charged with assault on a federal officer, and faces up to eight years in prison if convicted. The FBI is offering a reward of $50,000 for information leading to his capture."
Bondi praised the investigative work of federal law enforcement, stating, "You can run, you can’t hide. We are coming after you federally. If you assault a police officer, if you rob a store, if you loot, if you spit on police officers, we’re coming after you."
She emphasized that federal prosecutors are prepared to bring serious charges against individuals engaged in violence and chaos under statutes like the Hobbs Act. Looters targeting businesses could face up to 20 years in prison, while spitting on a federal law enforcement officer could lead to a five-year sentence.
"As President Trump said: ‘You spit, we hit,’" Bondi declared. "Get ready. If you spit on a federal law enforcement officer, we are going to charge you with a crime federally."
FBI Director Kash Patel also issued a stern warning to those attacking law enforcement. "If you assault a law enforcement officer, you’re going to jail—period," Patel told Fox News. "It doesn’t matter where you came from, how you got here, or what cause you claim to represent. If local jurisdictions won’t stand behind the men and women who wear the badge, the FBI will."
