Data showed that the FBI in DC spent nearly 16,000 more hours on the clock following the attack on the nation's Capitol than it did in the aftermath of the "firey but mostly peaceful" BLM riots.
According to the Oversight Project, FBI payroll records revealed that agents in Washington, DC Field Office worked 86,262 hours between January 4 and 17, 2021. Between May 25 and June 7, 2020, however, they worked just 70,367.25 hours.
In an interview with the Daily Signal, Oversight Projecct director Mike Howell slammed the FBI for appearing to have acted in a partisan manor.
"It's clear the FBI and Justice Department have been weaponized," he lamented, suggesting that the discerpancy between time spent on Jan 6 and the BLM riots shows "the lengths they will go to to surge resources towards nonviolent offenses that fit their political narratives."
Howell went on to state that instead, "law enforcement should focus their resources where they are needed and put an end to the gangs, rapes, carjackings, and murders that have become all too common."
The FBI data was provided via a Freedom of Information Act request, however the agency did not disclose just how much of the 86,000 hours was dedicated to January 6 cases alone. Howell and the Oversight Project have since sued the FBI in order to obtain that information.
During the BLM riots, which raged on for weeks, protestors damaged property, injured law enforcement, and even burned parts of a historic DC church. In the aftermath, then-president Trump famously cleared protestors from his path for a photo-op in front of the church, where he held up a Bible in triumph.
