Schlossberg announced this week that he intends to run for New York’s congressional seat currently held by Jerry Nadler.

Jack Schlossberg, the grandson of former President John F. Kennedy, posted a video earlier this year in which he mocked Robert F. Kennedy Jr’s voice. RFK Jr. now serves as Health and Human Services Secretary under President Donald Trump.

In an Instagram clip, Schlossberg imitated RFK Jr, who suffers from spasmodic dysphonia, saying, “Hey everybody, I’m trying to figure out the right present to get Donald Trump for the inauguration. So I found a really rare animal and killed it and I’m gonna give it to him.” He also tagged the now-Health and Human Services secretary in the video.

At the time, Schlossberg faced pushback from users who commented on the video, criticizing him for mocking his cousin who has an uncontrollable disorder. Schlossberg has also called RFK Jr a “prick” and “an embarrassment.”

Schlossberg announced this week that he intends to run for New York’s congressional seat currently held by Jerry Nadler. Nadler, 78, who represents Manhattan’s 12th district, said in September that he would not seek re-election after 34 years in Congress.

“Watching the Biden thing really said something about the necessity for generational change in the party,” Nadler said at the time. He has also emphasized the need for more voices in opposition to President Trump within the Democratic Party.

At 34, Schlossberg is expected to bring a younger energy to the party. He is a Yale and Harvard graduate, but has little experience beyond his family’s legacy. His professional experience is limited, having previously worked at the State Department and as a journalist for Vogue during the 2024 election.

He has also built a significant social media following, particularly on TikTok, where he posts videos on political issues.
