“I have my entire life and career been an ally and I see the issue of LGBTQ rights as a fundamental civil rights and human rights issue, period."
Democratic presidential candidate Vice President Kamala Harris was all-in for taxpayer-funded sex change operations for prisoners when she was asked about it in the past. In a 2019 American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) questionnaire, the then-senator from California ticked off a list of far left policies including funding sex changes for inmates, The Telegraph reported Tuesday. She also has bragged about spearheading the policy in California, which is now in effect.
The ACLU sent their survey to all Democratic and Republican candidates during the 2020 elections campaign and is back in the spotlight thanks to CNN, just as Harris attempts to remodel her ideological tenets. During Tuesday night’s presidential debate, Trump called Harris “a Marxist.”
Harris also reiterated her support for public-funded prisoner sex changes in the lead-up to the 2020 presidential election, then-Senator and presidential candidate Harris lauded her work gaining policy changes in California so trans-identified inmates incarcerated in California would have access to sex changes. Harris said that as California Attorney General, she had discovered that the Department of Corrections was "standing in the way of surgery for prisoners."
One of the questions in the ACLU survey was whether as president she would ensure transgender and nonbinary people who are recipients of state medical care, “including those in prison and immigration detention,” should be able to obtain “gender transition surgery.” Harris said she would and added, “It is important that transgender individuals who rely on the state for care receive the treatment they need, which includes access to treatment associated with gender transition.” During a town hall event in April 2019 even indicated that she believes federal ID cards should offer a “third gender” category, according to The Telegraph.
“I have my entire life and career been an ally and I see the issue of LGBTQ rights as a fundamental civil rights and human rights issue, period,” Harris said.
Harris spent much of the presidential debate distancing herself from her four years as vice president under President Joe Biden and as a US senator from California. When former President Donald Trump noted how Harris had actually participated in raising bail money for the rioters in Minnesota, Harris grimaced and vigorously shook her head. She did the same when Trump reminded viewers that Harris was also a vocal advocate of defunding the police. Harris even suggested it was Trump who wanted fewer police officers on the street. Her tweet fundraising for that bail fund is still up.
In the answers to the ACLU survey, Harris also said she supports the legalization of marijuana and pledged to “end private prisons and immigrant detention facilities.“
