An unnamed 43-year-old man from Palm Harbor Florida lost control of his Tesla and wound up smashing into the back of a house in the area, killing a person inside and one of his passengers.

The driver and his two other passengers, a 28-year old from New Port Richie and a 48-year old visiting from Illinois, have all been seriously injured in the crash.

The 69-year-old lady occupying the house was lamentably dead at the scene of the accident, whereas the 43-year-old passenger was rushed to a local hospital, where he later died of his injuries.

According to Fox 13 Tampa, the car, a Tesla Model S Plaid, was seen at or slightly before 10:30pm on Friday traveling at a great excess of velocity and then running a stop sign before it hit an embankment and went sailing into the air, smashing into the residence at 1498 Caird Way in Palm Harbor.

Tesla has made the news on several occasions these year for at times fatal problems with their autopilot systems. However, authorities have verified that the car's autopilot was not engaged at the time of the accident.

Since this is an ongoing investigation, more information may be made available presently.
