The defendant’s estranged husband contacted authorities a week earlier, citing her recent suicidal behavior. He was not present during the incident.
An immigration hold has been placed on Florida momfluencer Meliza Campos-Sanchez, 26, of Miami, who was arrested after she posted a video showing her setting a fire in her kitchen and pouring hot wax onto her two young children.
Jail records show that Campos-Sanchez was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on Monday on charges of child abuse, child neglect, and arson. Records show that an immigration hold has been placed on Campos-Sanchez.

In one video posted to Campos-Sanchez’s Instagram account, where she has over 60,000 followers, she was seen twerking in her kitchen in her underwear, sporting a sparkly eye mask, before she poured candle wax onto herself, set clothing on fire, and threw a mug on the floor. In another video, she was seen pouring candle wax on her two crying daughters, ages 6 and 3.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to a report of a kitchen fire at a home in the 4200 block of Southwest 95th Avenue on Sunday, with authorities determining the fire was intentional.
Campos-Sanchez’s eldest daughter told authorities that the two sisters watched as their mother started the fire, threw a glass mug on the floor while dancing, and then extinguished the fire with a bowl of water.
The defendant’s estranged husband told investigators that he had contacted the sheriff's office about a week earlier out of concern for the children, citing her recent suicidal behavior. He was not present during the incident.
A translated version of a recent post from Campos-Sanchez claimed that the father of her children “abandoned us,” and was with another woman “just to get me deported.” She said she would soon be heading to Cuba on a “private jet” to see her family after four years apart.
In another post from earlier in August, she was seen posing with what appears to be an airsoft gun in her mouth. Campos-Sanchez was taken to a hospital for a mental health evaluation before being booked into jail.
