Rapper and songwriter Tom MacDonald released a song on Thursday to honor Charlie Kirk, who was assassinated on Wednesday. Kirk was shot when he was speaking to students at Utah Valley University (UVU).

MacDonald, who has become known for releasing anti-woke music, said that all proceeds raised by the song will be donated. The song, titled on YouTube as "Charlie," was posted on Thursday.

Text displayed at the beginning of the song states, "Yesterday, in a violent act of cowardice, an assassin took Charlie Kirk's life. My heart goes out to his wife, his two children and to his millions of loyal supporters. All proceeds from this song will be donated. Rest In Peace Charlie."

The tune struck a different chord than his usual songs, with the tune being a more acoustic style. The lyrics from MacDonald stated:

He shot down, and he was barely 31
Another woke coward, took a life with a gun
He left behind a wife and a daughter and a son
All he did was try to speak for all of us

And I'm so tired of the hatred and the narratives
The Patriots ain't dangerous, woke people are the terrorists
They shot and killed a father, sent a message to Americans
They ain't gonna stop until they bury us

Dear Charlie, I don't know if you can see us now
but if heaven has a window, I sure hope you're looking down
Because we ain't going quiet, we gonna scream your name loud
And you're gone, but I swear to God that we go make you proud
We ain't backing up or giving up. I'll preach what you taught me
They may have killed a soldier, but that man had an army
This is far more deep than some political parties
And you can't kill freedom. So this one is for Charlie

MacDonald then goes into the chorus, where he sang.

This ain't the America that all our parents love, but good man tried to keep making it great
Pray that God will take care of us, the system is failing us when good men die for the things that they say
And I can't just be quiet, so I gotta be brave
Because this is America, lately it's scaring us, but one good man can change it all in a day

MacDonald went on in the second verse to say that Kirk was killed in "in cold blood for having a discussion" and that some on the left have been "celebrating murder like it's justice."

Kirk died on Wednesday after he was shot by an assassin at UVU, where he was speaking with a number of college students. The suspect is at large as of Thursday afternoon, however, authorities have asked the public to help identify a person of interest.

MacDonald told The Post Millennial that after he "contemplated long and hard about" releasing the song, and getting "thousands of messages" from fans, he believed that it was "the right thing to do."

"My heart goes out to Charlie's family. I've only spoken with Charlie a hand full of times... but I've cheered him on from a distance for many years. Even in my limited interactions with him... his impact was profound. The tears I've shed in the wake of his loss don't even begin to compare to the pain that I'm certain his wife and children are feeling. The world lost a great man. America lost a great leader. And a family lost a great father and husband," MacDonald added.
