In a press conference today, the Ontario Premier Doug Ford reassured long-term care homes that the government will help their residents.
Ford told reporters that he has "sent in the calvary" to help these homes after shocking revelations emerged about the quality and care of these homes.
"More help is on the way," said the premier.
In the same press conference, Ford and his Health Minister Elliot praised the Ontarians who have volunteered in the healthcare system. "We are still building our capacity," said Elliot.
Unlike Quebec, Doug Ford did not ask the federal government for help with the long-term care homes. Despite this, Ford said that "everything is on the table. We won't hesitate to ask for support."
Ford struck a more personal note during the press conference: "I grieve with you. I worry with you. I share that anxiety with you." Ford went on to say that he will present an update coronavirus data set for Ontario next week.
