"Oh no! An actual woman will receive a women's scholarship!!! How devastating! A win for women, equal opportunity, and reality," Riley Gaines wrote.
Actor George Takei, famous for his role as Mr. Sulu in the Star Trek series, was ratio’d on X for a post criticizing former University of Kentucky swimmer Riley Gaines and supporting men competing in women’s sports.
Takei posted a link to a piece on Comic Sands, owned by himself and his husband Brad, which read "Anti-Trans Swimmer Slammed After Causing Trans Teen To Lose Volleyball Scholarship."
The post, as of Thursday morning, has received around 1,200 likes, while getting over 5,000 comments.
Gaines is criticized in the piece for speaking out about the trans-identified male who won a women’s volleyball scholarship for the University of Washington, but the scholarship was later rescinded.
The piece stated that her tweet on the trans player "also inspired a wave of right-wing attacks against the teen on social media and right wing news," noting that "the person Gaines and her fellow transphobic cabal are attacking is a literal child."
"Gaines' supposed concerns about athletic fairness are likely not even valid. The teen is thought to have transitioned before puberty, meaning she never developed any of the supposed athletic advantages anti-trans agitators advocate against."
The post from Takei sparked widespread backlash on X, with Gaines herself responding, "Oh no! An actual woman will receive a women's scholarship!!! How devastating! A win for women, equal opportunity, and reality."
"Anti-Woman Elderly Actor Slammed (And Ratioed) After Supporting The Abuse Of Women In Their Own Spaces," she added in another post.
"Translating Newspeak: Former NCAA Swimmer Helps Ensure A Woman Receives Women’s Volleyball Scholarship Instead Of A Man," the Heritage Foundation wrote.
"Girls scholarships are for girls," the Independent Council on Women’s Sports wrote.
"This is a win for women," The Redheaded Libertarian wrote.
