Former WNBA player demands 'white players' who talk about protecting women's sports 'shut the f*ck up'

"Shut the f*ck up. Shut the f*ck up. Nobody wants to hear your opinion."

Sydney Colson, the former WNBA player and teammate of Sophie Cunningham, took to her podcast recently to lash out at white basketball players, saying they should "shut the f*ck up" about men playing in women's sports. Cunningham has been a vocal advocate of protecting women's sports from trans competitiors.

"Listen, if you never speak up about a d*mn thing when you know it's impacting the people that you claim to love, care about, you know we're fighting together as a team, sister, blah blah blah, and you don't speak up when things affect them. They don't respect you. They are just trying to make it," Colson said on her podcast "Unsupervised with Syd & TP."

Colson, appearing to call out Cunningham over her defense of women in sports, continued, "Let me just tell you now, for real, for real: for the white players in the league, when you don’t say sh*t, and even worse, when you say things that are harmful, talking about the trans sh*t, nobody respects you. Shut the f*ck up. Shut the f*ck up. Nobody wants to hear your opinion," the former player said.

"Freedom of speech, so you can say it, but just know, people are just trying to get by when they're dealing with you," she added. "And you ought to be ashamed. Y’all ought to be ashamed to act like you’re cool with people, to act like you care about sisterhood, all of these things."

In addition to the podcast episode, she posted a graphic to social media about her calling out white players with the caption, "We’ll always speak up. It’s time y’all did too."

Cunningham has recently gained popularity in the league as she has said that men should not be playing in women's sports. Her attitude towards the issue has been in conflict with many of the players and coaches in the WNBA who apparently cannot define what the "W" in the WNBA stands for. In August, the WNBA held a task force meeting to decide what to do with the league policy surrounding who qualifies as a "woman" after multiple former NBA players claimed that they were eligible for the WNBA.
