In the wake of an assassination attempt against President Trump at his Pennsylvania rally, the Trump's campaign authorized a fundraiser to support the victims and their families. One man was killed while protecting his family.

The GoFundMe account aims to assist those affected by the tragic event, which left one spectator dead and two others critically injured. The fundraiser, which had a goal of $1 million, had already raised $1.2 million by Sunday morning.

“All donations will be directed to these proud Americans as they grieve and recover. May God bless and unite our nation,” read the fundraiser’s description.

Trump, who narrowly escaped being killed during the attack, expressed his condolences and gratitude in a statement on Truth Social on Saturday night. He emphasized his concern for the victims' families before addressing his own condition.

“I want to thank The United States Secret Service, and all of Law Enforcement, for their rapid response on the shooting that just took place in Butler, Pennsylvania. Most importantly, I want to extend my condolences to the family of the person at the Rally who was killed, and also to the family of another person that was badly injured,” Trump said in his statement on Saturday.

Thomas Matthew Crooks, a 20-year-old Pennsylvania man, opened fire from a rooftop about 130 yards away from the stage. Crooks was shot and killed by a counter-sniper team at the event. Authorities continue to investigate the incident, seeking to understand Crooks’ motives and any possible connections. It was revealed that he had explosives in his car.
