Georgia LGBTQ, DEI activist leader faces cocaine, meth, firearms charges in Georgia after failed city council bids

The Colgay Pride president and founder was arrested this past week. Hobbs served as the first LGBTQ liaison to the Columbus, Georgia Mayor's Commission on Unity, Diversity and Prosperity. He has run for city council three times unsuccessfully.

A three-time failed city council candidate who was also an LGBTQ and DEI activist leader in Georgia was arrested this week on charges related to the intent to distribute methamphetamines and cocaine. He is also facing firearms charges.

According to a press release from the Columbus Police Department in Georgia, "On Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., following a months-long investigation, the Columbus Police Department's Special Operations Unit executed a search warrant at a residence in the 4200 block of 16th Avenue. Jeremy Hobbs, 49, was taken into custody without incident."



During the search, officers found 5.4 grams of crack cocaine, 20.7 grams of methamphetamines, 23.8 grams of liquid GHB, as well as an INA .38 revolver. He has been charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of VGCSA Schedule I Drug with intent to distribute, possession of drug-related objects, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

The left-wing activist headed the Colgay Pride organization. According to the organization's webpage, Hobbs is an "organizer and political consultant. He served as Columbus, Georgia’s first LGBT liaison to the Columbus, Georgia Mayor’s Commission on Unity, Diversity, and Prosperity under Mayors Teresa Tomlinson and Skip Henderson from 2014 to 2019."



Colgay Pride's Instagram page has multiple videos from Hobbs, vouching for different left-wing views. The organization has also helped to organize adult drag shows as well as LGBTQ support group events. 



Hobbs has run for city council in three failed attempts, per the organization's website, and has worked in the Columbus city government for over 30 years in different positions.
