Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX) harshly criticized President Biden on Sunday while talking with Fox anchor Maria Bartiromo, first in a Texas Blackhawk helicopter, then on the ground.
During the brief helicopter flight, Bartiromo was shown how migrants are now brazenly crossing the Rio Grande in broad daylight. Gov. Abbott pointed out that "the people who cross at night are the people who don't want to be caught."
In other words, the Biden administration's "catch and release" policies make it actually desirable for migrants to be apprehended by authorities in many cases.
"It shows that President Biden’s approach to this is to abandon the rule of law," said Gov. Abbott while being interviewed on Fox News's "Sunday Morning Futures".
"Our state legislature, they allocate about $800 million every two years for the state to pay for this. This year, because of the extended time that we will have the National Guard on the border, it likely will clearly exceed a billion dollars for the state to have to secure the United States of America."
"The first 100 days of the Biden administration, they’ve been great for the cartels, for the gangs, for the human traffickers who have been exploiting the borders."
So far, neither President Biden nor Vice President Harris have bothered to visit the border even once since taking office. Even more alarmingly, Gov. Abbott said that he has yet to receive as much as even a single communication from the White House talking about the border crisis.
"They do not want to resolve the issues on the border," stated Gov. Abbott.
