A 63-year-old grandmother was allegedly sexually assaulted by a violent Portland repeat offender after she fell unconscious at a TriMet station on her way to attend her grandson's graduation last year.

Eduardo Guillermo Madrid-Roque, 29, was arrested by authorities on April 9 on multiple felony sexual assault charges, KATU 2 reports. He has prior felony assault charges, court records show.

Madrid-Roque is accused of sexually assaulting the unconscious victim for more than 30 minutes at the Hillsboro Transit Center on June 14, 2023, court documents show.

The victim, who has not been identified, fell unconscious after experiencing an unexpected reaction to a new medication she had been prescribed. She had a glass of wine on the plane and became "heavily intoxicated" due to the combination of the prescription drug and alcoholic beverage, prosecutors said.

The victim took the MAX to leave PDX and exited at the Hillsboro Transit Center around 8 pm.

Surveillance video at the transit station captured the woman visibly impaired while sitting down on the sidewalk. She then proceeded to lie down on the sidewalk and removed her pants due to the effects of the medication, court documents state.

Around 9:15 pm, Madrid-Roque arrived at the station and saw the victim on the ground. He began to sexually assault the grandmother for 30 minutes, which was captured on surveillance video. He would periodically stop the assault when people were passing by, and left the scene via bus around 9:45 pm, according to prosecutors.

Transit police found the woman unconscious around 10:45 pm and transported her to a local hospital. She had no memory of the assault and was made aware of it after contacting TriMet to locate personal items that she had lost that night. The sexual assault was discovered after reviewing surveillance footage.

The DNA found on her clothes, according to the prosecution, matched Madrid-Roque. Madrid-Roque had prior convictions for public indecency and felony assault.

Madrid-Roque has been arrested on charges that include first-degree sexual abuse, unlawful sexual penetration, and public indecency.

Prosecutors have asked the court not to release him on bail, citing that he is a public safety risk, according to the outlet.
