Greta Thunberg, a teen activist and social media idol from Sweden, has publicly announced her endorsement of US Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden.
“I never engage in party politics. But the upcoming US elections is above and beyond all that. From a climate perspective it’s very far from enough and many of you of course supported other candidates. But, I mean…you know…damn! Just get organized and get everyone to vote #Biden," wrote Thunberg.
Thunberg rose to fame after leading the 2018 for leading school strikes in Sweden demanding more action on climate change. Her climate activism led to her being named the 2019 Time Person of the Year.
It is no secret that there animosity exists between standing US President Donald Trump and the outspoken Thunberg. In 2019 Trump publicly told her to "Chill Greta, Chill!" in a tweet, saying that the should “work on her Anger Management problem.”
Climate change is one of the hotly debated issues in this year’s presidential debates. Interest in the issue is especially high among young people of all political persuasions.
