House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan and Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence Chairman Mike Turner sent a letter to former CIA Chief Operating Officer Andrew Makridis demanding that he sit for a transcribed interview in regards to the letter signed by 51 former intelligence community officials that said the Hunter Biden laptop story was Russian disinformation.

Noting the October 2020 statement that was published in Politico, the lawmakers wrote, "this statement falsely implied the New York Post’s reporting about Hunter Biden was the product of Russian disinformation."

"We have requested documents and communications relating to the CIA’s potential knowledge of and involvement in the October 2020 public statement prior to its publication."

They wrote that on February 7, 2024, the CIA gave some documentation to the Committees showing that the agency’s Prepublication Review Board received the draft public statement and raised it to the Office of the Chief Operating Officer for consideration.

"It is our understanding that it is rare for the COO, the third highest ranking official within the CIA, to review such publications."

Makridis served as COO between 2018 and 2022 and "as such, we believe that you possess critical insight into the CIA’s potential involvement in and approval of the October 2020 statement."

"Your testimony is necessary to further our insight. Accordingly, we request that you appear promptly for a transcribed interview with the Committees."
