"It’s really sad to watch," Hunter Biden said. "The only thing that I’d say about my dad, about his health right now, is I wish he would complain more, because it’s not good.”
Hunter Biden discussed his father’s health during an interview with the BBC that aired Friday, saying the cancer has metastasized to his bones and that his current condition is “very painful” and “very debilitating.”
"It’s really sad to watch," Hunter Biden said. "The only thing that I’d say about my dad, about his health right now, is I wish he would complain more, because it’s not good.”
Hunter also noted that his father continues to be “out there” at speaking engagements. “He’s still doing his thing,” he said. “He so believes in this country.”
The former president publicly announced his prostate cancer diagnosis in May of 2025, just a few months after leaving the White House. His office said at the time that the cancer was already at Stage 4 and had spread to his bones.
"Cancer touches us all. Like so many of you, Jill and I have learned that we are strongest in the broken places. Thank you for lifting us up with love and support,” Biden said in a social media post in May.
At the time, Biden’s office also revealed that he had a Gleason score of 9, placing the cancer in the highest-risk category and raising questions about how long the disease may have been present before being officially diagnosed. Ezekiel Emanuel, oncologist from the University of Pennsylvania, stated that Biden undoubtedly had the cancer “for years.”
“He did not develop it in the last 100, 200 days,” Emanuel told MSNBC. “He had it while he was president. He probably had it at the start of his presidency in 2021. Yes, I don't think there's any disagreement about that."
Biden is expected to publish a memoir titled “Promise Me, America,” after the midterm elections.
