'I try to challenge him': Non-religious actor Anna Faris brags that she argues with her 14-year-old Christian son

Actress Anna Faris revealed that she has been challenging her 14-year-old son, whom she shares with actor Chris Pratt, over religious beliefs that he has embraced.

During an episode of Chelsea Handler’s “Dear Chelsea” podcast, Faris explained that her teenage son, Jack, is “religious,” despite her not having grown up with religion. Faris said her son’s religious beliefs have clashed with her own, including a moment where he had asked her to accept Jesus Christ as her savior. She “told him I would do anything for him, including this, but it’s gonna take a whole lot of long conversations.”

She also explained that she questions some of the conservative views her son has adopted.

“I try to challenge him,” she explained. “I’m like, ‘Do you think it’s a luxury that you get to be pro-life?’ …He’s like, ‘Maybe.’”

“Or I’ll say, ‘So, what do you think of this mega pastor that’s kind of a grifter?’” Faris continued. “He’s like, ‘Oh, mega pastors are the worst.’”

Faris noted that her son’s responses have been “impressive” and that she is “appreciative” about how he is “examining religion the way he is in terms of recognizing hypocrisy.” She emphasized she appreciates “long conversations” they have together, according to a report by Page Six.

Faris and Pratt married in 2009 and divorced in 2018. They share joint custody of Jack. Pratt later married Katherine Schwazrenegger and had three more children. Pratt has been an outspoken advocate for Christianity and is seen as one of the most vocal Christian individuals in Hollywood, despite the backlash he has faced over it.

Pratt had previously emphasized how Jack’s birth shaped his religious views, as he was born several weeks premature.

“I prayed hard to God. I was in a season of transition spiritually at that time, and didn’t quite fully understand,” he said in a 2025 interview. “I made a deal with God again: ‘I’m sorry, God, here I am again, asking for your grace again.'”
