A suspect being held after allegedly torturing a Washington woman using what authorities described as “the most horrific atrocities” has been revealed as an illegal immigrant from India. According to ICE, 26-year-old Vipindeep Singh entered the United States illegally near Calexico, California, in 2022 and is currently in removal proceedings.
Singh is charged in King County with six counts of domestic violence assault stemming from what Renton Police detectives have described as one of the most disturbing torture investigations they have encountered. He has pleaded not guilty.
Investigators allege the abuse lasted approximately two years before the victim was finally able to secretly text her sister in another state, asking her to call 911. Officers conducting a welfare check earlier in 2026 located Singh with the victim, who was bleeding from her neck.
Court documents state, “An officer did a welfare check and upon finding their home unoccupied, located the defendant, contacted him, and observed the victim bleeding from her neck in the vehicle. She reported that on that particular night, he strangled her for what she believed to last one second, but impacted her ability to breathe and resulted in a forensic nurse reportedly observing petechiae, and that he had bent her left pinky toe back, which resulted in a fracture of her pinky.”
Prosecutors allege the violence extended far beyond that incident. Charging documents describe daily physical assaults that left the woman with extensive bruising, burns, scratches, permanent ear damage, and injuries to her hands.
According to investigators, Singh allegedly exercised near-total control over the victim’s life, preventing her from communicating with others and requiring her to accompany him while he worked as a delivery driver.
King County prosecutors wrote in court filings, “The defendant has committed some of the most horrific atrocities that can be committed in private, and has isolated her, psychologically manipulated her, and left physical scars and injuries that will never heal. His actions were deliberately cruel and served no other purpose than to engage in gratuitous violence and inflict an unfathomable amount of pain on this victim.”
According to FOX 13, during a court hearing, a victim advocate read a statement from the woman describing the escalating abuse she says she endured. “I will keep telling my story and never give up. I will not keep silent when it pertains to domestic violence as silence only encourages the tormentor."
"Vipindeep controlled every aspect of my life, what I wore, what I watched on my phone, on TV and he cut me off from my family. Vipindeep has called me every vile name possible. The beatings were violent. It all started with a slap, then two punches, two scratches to bending my fingers backwards all the way to burning my arms with a hair straightener. My hands were bent way too many times every day that they are now not functioning. My hands are frozen. I was tortured repeatedly every day and night. The abuse went on for two years every day. I still fear for my life that if he is released from jail, he would hurt me or even kill me. I am not able to sleep at night for fear of him being let out,” she said.
Authorities say the victim has since been moved to a secure location.
An ICE spokesman told The Ari Hoffman Show on Talk Radio 570 KVI, “ICE filed a detainer on Vipindeep Singh, an illegal alien from India, with the King County Maleng Regional Justice Center, on July 14, 2026. He entered the United States illegally in 2022 at or near Calexico, California and is currently in removal proceedings.”
However, the filing of the detainer does not guarantee that King County will transfer Singh directly into federal custody if he is eventually released from local detention. Democrats previously designated Washington as a so-called “sanctuary state,” restricting state and local authorities from cooperating with federal immigration enforcement. In an exclusive interview on The Ari Hoffman Show on Talk Radio 570 KVI, US Attorney Neil Floyd said federal authorities have repeatedly sought limited cooperation from Washington officials involving illegal immigrants already being held in local jails, including those accused of violent crimes.
Floyd said he met with Gov. Bob Ferguson, Attorney General Nick Brown, representatives of Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson’s administration, and other officials in an attempt to identify areas where state and federal authorities could cooperate without violating state law. “I said no, I’m not talking about violating any laws,” Floyd said. “There’s just got to be some areas of cooperation.” According to Floyd, Washington officials refused.
Floyd argued that preventing ICE officers from accessing people already confined in local jails forces agents to search for them in neighborhoods and other public locations after their release. “If you give me access to the jail like they’ve done in Minneapolis now, like they’ve done in Minnesota, then I’m going to take those same hundred officers and put them in state jails picking up people that have already been arrested,” Floyd said.
“When you break down that system, you’re forcing them into the community to do exactly what you don’t want them to do,” he added.
Floyd also described cases involving illegal immigrants accused of child rape, repeat drunk driving, and fatal crashes who were not automatically transferred to federal custody. In one case involving an illegal immigrant accused of raping a child after previously being removed from the country, Floyd said, “If it wasn’t for my federal arrest warrant because he had been previously removed, he would have been released on the street after having raped a child and still here illegally.”
Singh remains held in the King County Jail on $1 million bail while the criminal case proceeds.
