Over 100 illegal immigrants, including several convicted killers, have been apprehended by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) during a mass deportation operation in New York.

The agency revealed that during the course of the operation, conducted from March 24 to March 28, 133 illegal immigrants were apprehended. 20 of the individuals apprehended have criminal charges or convictions, including three who were convicted killers. Nine of those arrested had previously been deported and illegally re-entered the United States.

Among the convicted killers apprehended were a 49-year-old from Trinidad and Tobago, a 32-year-old from El Salvador, and a 70-year-old from the Dominican Republic. ICE also arrested a 43-year-old South African citizen who was charged with distributing and possessing child pornography in New York.

“By leveraging our federal partnerships and intelligence-driven investigations, ICE continues to carry out its mission in a way that best serves national security, public safety and border security,” said ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Buffalo acting Deputy Field Office Director Philip Rhoney in a statement. “I am grateful for the professionalism, dedication and support from all of our partners during this week-long operation to remove dangerous alien offenders from our New York communities.”

The raids were conducted in collaboration with other federal agencies across western, central, and northern New York, said ICE Homeland Security Investigations Buffalo Special Agent in Charge Erin Keegan in a statement. 84 individuals were apprehended in the Buffalo and Rochester areas, while 49 were taken into custody in Syracuse, Albany, Rouses Point, and Massena.

“The success of this enhanced enforcement operation underscores the importance of utilizing a whole-of-government approach when protecting the public from criminal aliens and dangerous individuals living in our western, central, and northern New York communities,” Keegan said. "Standing side-by-side with our partners, ICE HSI will utilize every tool at our disposal to ensure the safety and security of New Yorkers. I commend our partners from the FBI, CBP, USBP, ATF, DEA, DSS, and USMS for their unwavering collaboration in support of this vital mission.”
