An illegal immigrant who had been deported two times from the country killed an off-duty police officer in a wrong-way crash earlier this month. The illegal immigrant had kept sneaking back into the country after getting sent away.

Fernando Jimenez-Jimenez, 31, from Mexico, was driving on the wrong side of the road on Interstate 15 when he crashed into Officer Colton Pulsipher, 29, near Vegas. Pulsipher had been driving home from his shift for the department, the New York Post reported.

Jimenez as well as Pulsipher were found dead at the scene when first responders arrived. Jimenez had an order of removal placed on him by a judge three years ago, the outlet reported. He was deported out of the country in 2019 on "an order of expedited removal." He then came into the US again in 2020 and was deported again in 2021.

Officers found containers of alcohol as well as marijuana in Jimenez's F150, which plowed into Pulsipher's Toyota Corolla. A toxicology report on Jimenez is still pending, per the Las Vegas Review Journal.

An obituary was published for Pulsipher, which read that he "was born February 12, 1995 in St. George, Utah to Dale Lee and Lonia Louise Lee Pulsipher. On July 16, 2016 he married Ashlee Marie Svedin in the St. George LDS Temple."

"Colton lived most of his life in Moapa, Nevada. Following high school, he served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Denver North Mission," it added. Pulsipher leaves behind his wife Ashlee as well as three children: Carlee, 5, Brett, 2, and Johnny, 11 months.

Pulsipher was laid to rest on December 18 as his body was escorted by fellow officers. “As we honor his legacy, we remember a man who truly embodied the spirit of service. He will forever hold a special place in our hearts,” the LVPD said in a statement.

Behind the Blue posted a fundraiser to support the family of the fallen officer. The page stated, "Officer Pulsipher’s commitment to serving and protecting our community was matched only by his dedication to his family."
