A South African national on the terrorist watchlist was arrested in Brooklyn, NY Tuesday. The suspect initially crossed the border into Texas, and was detained in Texas but was released into the country. He subsequently made his way north to New York.
Border Patrol Chief Jason Owens announced that a "multi-agency effort led to the arrest of a South African national and suspected terrorist in Brooklyn, NY. Initially detained in Texas for criminal trespassing and based on information available at the time, the individual was released. A further subsequent investigation revealed a positive match on the terrorist watchlist, prompting swift action by USBP agents and personnel at the National Targeting Center. Thanks to the coordination of multiple agencies, this potential threat was located, taken into custody, and is now pending removal."
A Texas Department of Public Safety official told Fox News that the illegal immigrant was arrested on a ranch near Eagle Pass in September and was subsequently turned over to federal border patrol. He was arrested alongside 36 other illegal immigrants.
Incoming Border Czar Tom Homan has been crisscrossing the country to tell everyone that the current porous southern border instituted by President Joe Biden will soon be a thing of the past. He has warned police chiefs, mayors and governors that he will not let them impede President-elect Donald Trump’s pledge to begin mass deportations after his inauguration on Jan. 20.
“If he doesn't want to help, get the hell out of the way,” Homan said of Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson. “If he knowingly harbors or conceals an illegal alien – I will prosecute him.” Homan has promised to “flood” US sanctuary cities with ICE agents to get the job done, while reminding Americans that the Trump administration is determined to destroy criminal cartels. Homan has even encouraged illegal immigrants to “self-deport."
Johnson has suggested the deportations are somehow racist. "His threat is not just towards new arrivals and undocumented families. His threats are also against black families … We're going to protect undocumented individuals," Johnson promised, while not saying that the cost of feeding and housing the surge of illegals in his city has helped create a $1 billion deficit for Chicago.
