Mayor Brandon Johnson (D-Chicago) has claimed that President-elect Trump is a "threat to everything that is sensible" and insisted that Trump wants to tear apart public education while maintaining a nation of "upheaval and chaos." Johnson made the comments while speaking to reporters Tuesday as he criticized the incoming president’s policies on illegal immigration and sanctuary cities, Fox News reported.

"We're still a welcoming city. That did not change on Nov. 5, and it doesn't change based upon who's in the White House and whether you are seeking refuge from Central South America or the continent of Africa," Johnson said. "This country has to remain a welcoming space for new arrivals and for immigrants." Chicago teachers have been told to give the children of illegal immigrants passing grades, no matter what their scholastic abilities.

Johnson recommended that instead of moving ahead with mass deportations of illegals, Trump should create “sensible” legislation with Congress, hire more Customs and Border Protection agents and have more judges at the border to assess asylum requests. The mayor suggested that Trump is gearing up for chaos.

"He wants to create a structure in a system where there is upheaval and chaos," Johnson said. In regards to public education, he added, "He wants to dismantle public education, a system that was built by descendants of slaves, particularly in the south. He is a threat to everything that is sensible."

In response to Johnson’s remarks, Karoline Leavitt, spokesperson for the Trump-Vance transition team, told Fox News Digital, "The American people re-elected President Trump by a resounding margin, giving him a mandate to implement the promises he made on the campaign trail. He will deliver."

Johnson suggested he would work with Trump under the mayor’s conditions. "If he wants to work with us, he’ll have a partner," Johnson said. "But if he wants to come and threaten us, then he is … he has declared opposition to us."

Johnson had claimed at a previous news conference that Trump is a threat to black families, Fox News noted.

"His threat is not just towards new arrivals and undocumented families. His threats are also against black families. … We're going to protect undocumented individuals," Johnson told reporters, without noting that housing and feeding the surge of illegals in the city has helped create a $1 billion deficit for Chicago. "We're going to protect black folks, brown folks, Asian folks. The City of Chicago will be better, stronger and safer despite who's in the White House."

Johnson recently announced that he won’t be going to the funeral services for police officer Enrique Martinez, who was killed on duty. The officer’s family asked Johnson not to attend because they don’t want the focus of the event on the mayor but on Martinez’s life and service.

"He wants to dismantle public education, a system that was built by descendants of slaves,...' This ghetto rat may want to review history. Public education was started and built by a White guy, Ben Franklin.
