Left-wing group behind 'No Kings,' public school students plan state-wide anti-ICE 'walkout' for Sept 4 in Colorado

Students from more than 160 Colorado public schools will be participating in a "walkout" to protest US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The action, scheduled for September 4, is being promoted as a statewide "Walkout for ICE Out" day. The walkout has been promoted by left-wing activist organization 50501, which was a key group that was behind the "No Kings" protests around the nation. 

Participating students will leave class at 12 pm, according to organizers. A central rally is planned at La Alma Park in Denver, where students from area schools will gather to demand an end to immigration enforcement operations. It's unclear whether teachers will participate in the political event. 

The Youth Coalition, a Denver-based left-wing student activist organization, appears to be the lead organizer of the walkout, according to social media.



The group's Instagram promotion, which features an ICE agent wearing a Nazi patch with blood on his hands, tagged a network of left-wing radical groups, including No Concentration Camps Colorado and the 50501 Movement. These allied groups have overlapping messaging around advocating for the abolition of ICE and immigration detention centers, as well as organizing extreme demonstrations against ICE operations.

Another post from the Youth Coalition shows that 50501 is a partner for the planned "walkout."



Colorado students, with support from teachers, have staged multiple anti-ICE walkouts since early 2026. Those walkouts, which included marches to parks, city halls, and the state capitol, prompted multiple school districts to shut down so students could participate, particularly after the ICE and Border Patrol-involved shootings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti in Minneapolis. 

Other school districts made it clear that the previous walkouts were not sanctioned, and issued statements that classes would continue as scheduled, explaining that students who do not come to class would be marked absent.

The popular right-wing social media account, Libs of TikTok, shared the planned event on X, which sparked intense backlash, particularly among parents. 

"Remember, if you are tired of your kids being used as political pawns, pull them out before Oct 1 to homeschool. This way the school doesn't get the money," one user wrote on X.

"Any teachers that take the children to an ICE protest should be arrested for felony child endangerment," another user added.

Other social media users called for the Trump administration to pull federal funding, saying, "This is indoctrination not education."

Colorado is a self-designated sanctuary state and has a high population of illegal immigrants. Its government has repeatedly fought the Trump administration over enhanced immigration enforcement operations in the state, which continue to result in the arrests of criminal illegal aliens charged and/or convicted of serious crimes.

The September 4 action follows months of student and teacher participation in broader "ICE Out" demonstrations, which have resulted in school closures and delays due to staff and student absences.
