Tom Homan, the former acting Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) director under the first Trump administration, has said that he’s "honored" to have been chosen as the "border czar" for the upcoming second Trump administration, saying that he’s "looking forward" to fixing the border crisis that has persisted under the Biden-Harris administration.

"I've been on this network for years complaining about what this administration did to this border. I've been yelling and screaming about it and what they need to do to fix it. So when the president asked me, ‘Would you come back and fix it?’ Of course. I'd be a hypocrite if I didn't. I'm honored the president asked me to come back and help solve this national security crisis, so I'm looking forward to it," Homan told Fox & Friends Monday morning after the announcement.

"I think the calling is clear," he continued, "I've got to go back and help because every morning… I'm pissed off with what this [Biden] administration did to the most secure border in my lifetime, so I'm going to go back and do what I can to fix it."

Homan, who is also a former police officer and Border Patrol Agent, said of Democratic governors who said they would not comply with deportations, "if you don’t want to help us, get the hell out of the way cause we’re gonna do it."

He said as an example, "if we can’t get assistance from New York City, we may have to double the agents we send to New York City, because we’re going to do the job. We’re going to do the job without you or with you."

He said it’s "much easier" to make arrests and "get the bad guy in jail" than it is to have these people released onto the streets, which results in authorities and communities being placed at risk. "Sanctuary cities are sanctuaries for criminals," he added.

He noted that not only US citizens, but immigrants should be protected too from criminals, adding, "who is the victim of MS-13 crime? The immigrant community."

Speaking on his background, Homan said, "I know exactly what I'm doing, and this is the second time I've come out of retirement for this president, because it matters. I was a Border Patrol agent, I wore that uniform, and I'm proud that I wore that uniform. I was an ICE agent. I was the first ICE director that came up through the ranks, so the 20,000 men and women that worked for me, I didn't ask them to do anything I wouldn't do myself, because I was one of them," he said.

Homan said that he has received thousands of calls, texts, and emails since Friday after it was rumored that he would be tapped for the Trum administration. "Thousands of retired agents, retired military [have called] that want to come in and volunteer to help this president secure the border and do this deportation operation."
