Keith Brackett, 48, was arrested on Wednesday and charged with the murder of a 13-year-old boy that took place over a decade ago. The 13-year-old boy, Robert Bee, went missing in 2016, per WCSC5.
According to Libs of TikTok, a source in Illinois said that Brackett is being held in the female section of jail. "When Bracket was released from prison in 2025 for other crimes, he said he received trans surgeries while in prison. He then begged for money to finish his 'transition,'" the account said.
Brackett was apparently friendly with Bee, and the boy would go over to his home after school at times. The boy would skip school and sometimes spend the night at Brackett's home. However, on November 18, 2016, the boy went missing. His remains were not found until July 2017, behind a house owned by Brackett's aunt.
After the remains were found, the aunt said that the grounds were maintained by her nephew. After police searched Brackett's home, they found a rope that was the same color as the rope that was found near Bee's remains. Despite denying he had been near the crime scene, digital data revealed that Brackett had gone to where the remains were located multiple times after the boy went missing.
During his first court appearance, Brackett requested that he be addressed as a woman, per WMBD. The suspect had recently been paroled from the Illinois Department of Corrections and was served with arrest warrants on Wednesday. He is being charged with first-degree murder as well as the concealment of homicide.
