Joy Reid probably isn't getting fired, but that doesn't mean she shouldn't be

Is Joy Reid out? Unlikely, but more importantly, we shouldn't forget what she wrote about gay people.

Rumors are abound that MSNBC’s race baiter-in-chief Joy Reid could be getting the axe from her slot on the liberal cable news network due to rumors suggesting she was “less than truthful about past incidents.”

Word of her possible dismissal comes from John Nicosia of News Cycle Media, who claimed that a Comcast insider informed him that Reid will be off the air sometime this spring.

In a series of tweets, Nicosia, who is better known as @NewsPolitics on Twitter, wrote:

Source @ Comcast: "Joy Reid will lose her 7p show in the next round of reshuffling at MSNBC."  - "She does not have a show come mid Spring" - The "decision has been made, the only thing left is messaging on the move, which will be ratings" - 1/

As was the case with Chris Cuomo at CNN, Reid has allies at Comcast, however, she is now viewed as "unmanageable" by many. Also, similar to Cuomo, it appears those allies have found out she has been "less than truthful about past incidents" 2/ (more to come).

Also, like Cuomo at CNN. Watch for MSNBC/Comcast to defend her right until the announcement.

While Nicosia's rumors are nothing more than that – rumors – the claim that she could be getting the axe because she was “less than truthful about past incidents” had many talking about the derogatory remarks about then-Florida Gov. Charlie Crist, whom she referred to as “Miss Charlie,” with a number of anti-gay slurs.

Joy Reid is unlikely to face termination any time soon – and if she was getting booted, there'd be far more people talking about it on websites like Mediaite, the New York Times, and elsewhere – but she should be fired, and with good reason.

The Intercept reported in 2018 that Reid wrote that Crist, who if he ever got to the White House would be fixated on designing napkin patterns at state funerals and spend his honeymoon “ogling male waiters.”

According to Vox, Reid would later apologize for her past “hurtful” remarks, which she wrote from the mid-to-late 2000s. Despite her apology, Reid says that she does not “believe” that she actually wrote the blog posts, suggesting that all her comments about everyone but Charlie Crist, including Tom Cruise, Karl Rove, and Supreme Court Justice John Roberts’ son, were penned by a hacker.

Vox detailed:

The posts, for example, suggested — without much, if any, evidence — that Tom Cruise, Karl Rove, and Chief Justice John Robert’s son are gay. Other posts made derogatory remarks about gay people, claiming that “most straight people cringe at the sight of two men kissing” and that “adult gay men tend to be attracted to very young, post-pubescent types.” One post acknowledged, “Does that make me homophobic? Probably.”

These are different from previous blog posts that Reid apologized for in December 2017. In those past posts, Reid wrote that then-Florida Gov. Charlie Crist was gay, nicknamed him “Miss Charlie,” and claimed that he only married a woman for political purposes. Reid said her comments were “insensitive, tone-deaf and dumb. There is no excusing it — not based on the taste-skewing mores of talk radio or the then-blogosphere, and not based on my intentions.” Crist, who’s now a member of Congress, accepted her apology.

Over the past two years, Reid and her colleagues have presided over a host of racist broadcasts on MSNBC, including referring to Kyle Rittenhouse, who was found innocent, as a “murderous white supremacist” who cried “white tears.”

Reid and her co-host also claimed that the trial was rigged in his favor because both the judge and jury were predominantly white. When not attacking the teenager, Reid and her colleagues would turn their ire to Winsome Sears, Virginia’s first black Lt. Governor, referring to her as a “ventriloquist” for white supremacists.

National Review reported:

During a Thursday segment on MSNBC’s The ReidOut with host Joy Reid, for example, Professor Michael Eric Dyson suggested that as a Republican opposed to the teaching of Critical Race Theory in public schools, Sears — Old Dominion’s lieutenant governor-elect — is a puppet of white supremacy.

“The problem is, here, they want white supremacy by ventriloquist effect,” he explained. “There is a black mouth moving but a white idea running on the runway of the tongue of a figure who justifies and legitimates the white supremacist practices.”

As detailed by Summit News, Reid and her crew have also declared that anyone who celebrates Thanksgiving is really celebrating white supremacy and genocide against blacks.
