Author and mathematician James Lindsay has been reportedly locked out of his Twitter account for up to a week for sharing misleading' information about COVID vaccines.

The tweet, which reportedly triggered the lockout, was a retweet of physician-scientist and author Eric Topol, who posted a graphic and a study on the effects of "long COVID."

Topol wrote in his original tweet, "A systematic #LongCovid review of nearly 200 studies and over 120,000 participants, reinforces the high frequency of symptoms > 6 months, not linked to severity of acute illness, and potential for marked disability."

A graphic accompanied the tweet and study which showed a diagram of the human body and how the virus affects each part.

Lindsay retweeted the graphic and the study and wrote, "The scientific name for long covid is vaccine injury."

The study on the "long-term consequences of the coronavirus disease 19 (COVID-19)" was intended to "…summarize the state-of-the-art literature in relation to long COVID symptomatology, using a systematic review and meta-analysis of observational studies."

According to the study, "Among 11,162 papers initially screened, 196 studies were included, consisting of 120,970 participants (mean age: 52.3 years; 48.8% females) who were followed-up for a median of six months. The incidence of any long COVID symptomatology was 56.9% (95%CI: 52.2-61.6). General long COVID signs and symptoms were the most frequent (incidence of 31%), and digestive issues the less frequent (7.7%). Higher percentage of females moderated the onset of any, neurological, general and cardiovascular long COVID symptomatology, whilst higher mean age was associated with higher incidence of psychiatric, respiratory, general, digestive and skin conditions. The incidence of long COVID symptomatology was different according to continent, age and follow-up length."

According to an October 2021 article in Reuters, "More than 1,300 COVID vaccine-related injury claims are now pending before an obscure government tribunal."

The outlet added, "...the overwhelming majority of all litigants under what's known as the Countermeasures Injury Compensation Program have not succeeded. According to program data, 29 claims have been paid for injuries stemming from other vaccines since the tribunal’s inception in 2010. (Ten additional claims won approval but no compensation.) The other 455 claims – 92% – were denied or otherwise deemed ineligible for review."

Additionally, "For those who prevailed, the median award was $5,677, according to my calculations, spanning from a low of $31 to a high of $2.3 million, for a person who contracted Guillain-Barre Syndrome after receiving the H1N1 influenza vaccine."

According to Reuters, "There is no provision for damages based on pain and suffering."

Lindsay, a critical race theory critic, had previously been locked out of his account after posting multiple tweets condemning "groomer" behavior flagged by Twitter, with an added statement from Twitter that the tweets may be withheld from viewers in Germany.

Lindsay was locked out of his account for 12 hours in November 2021, due to several posts in which he responded simply, "Ok groomer," a play on "Ok boomer," to tweets defending the teaching and pushing of gender identities in schools.
