"It says 'Charlie Kirk, suspect's grandma says family is all MAGA,'" Crocket said.
Crockett cited "Yahoo News" in her comments to say that Robinson was right wing. "It says 'Charlie Kirk, suspect's grandma says family is all MAGA,'" Crockett said.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) shot back at Crockett, saying, " I can assure you that the 22 year old man, Tyler Robinson, that murdered Charlie Kirk, is not MAGA. His family may be Republican, but all of the evidence that is being presented proves that he is a far leftist, very much integrated in online groups that are linked to Antifa. He was in a relationship with a biological male, so called 'furry,' whatever that is, that is transitioning to be a fake woman."
"He was not MAGA, not one bit that is a complete lie, and it's an insult to every single Republican and person that identifies with those type of politics," Taylor added. The comment from the grandmother were first reported by the Daily Mail, who spoke to Robinson's grandmother. The grandmother said, "Most of my family members are Republican. I don't know any single one who’s a Democrat."
However, Robinson's grandmother was perhaps unaware of what her grandson's politics were. Robinson's parents told authorities that Robinson had become increasingly left leaning and that he would disagree with his father about politics consistently. Robinson was also romantically involved with his roommate Lance Twiggs, a biological male who identified as transgender.
Left-wing news outlets and media figures took the quote from the grandmother to shape the false narrative that Robinson was on the far-right and part of the "groyper" movement. Robinson had previously told his parents that he had disdain for Kirk because he believed the political commentator "spread hate." And in texts to his roommate Robinson appeared to confess to the killing, saying, when Twiggs asked him why he did it, “I had enough of his hatred. Some hate can’t be negotiated out," per charging documents.
