Jill Biden, Douglas Emhoff to visit Waukesha weeks after massacre

First Lady Jill Biden and Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff are scheduled to visit Wisconsin on Wednesday afternoon, the White House announced Friday.

Biden and Emhoff are set to travel to the cities of Milwaukee and Waukesha. The two will stop in New York City on Wednesday morning followed by the Wisconsin apperances in the afternoon. Additional details are expected to follow.

The trip to the small town of Waukesha comes more than three weeks after career criminal Darrell Brooks allegedly plowed into the community's Christmas parade, killing six victims, including an 8-year-old boy, and leaving dozens injured.

On the Monday after the parade, President Joe Biden made his first remarks, offering prayers to "lift up" the mourning families who lost loved ones.

"We know this morning that five families in Waukesha are facing the fresh grief of life without a loved one. At least 40 Americans are suffering from injuries, some of them in critical condition. And an entire community is struggling — struggling to cope with a horrific act of violence," he said. "Last night, the people of Waukesha were gathered to celebrate the start of a season of hope and togetherness and thanksgiving. This morning, Jill and I and the entire Biden family, and I’m sure all of us, pray that that same spirit is gonna embrace it and lift up all the victims of this tragedy, bringing comfort to those recovering from their injuries and wrapping the families of those who died in the support of our community."

Fox News reporter Peter Doocy pressed White House press secretary Jen Psaki on why Biden hasn't visited Waukesha in the wake of the tragedy.

Psaki dodged the direct question asked in the White House press briefing room on Nov. 29, a week following the horrific Waukesha attack:

"Obviously any president going to visit a community requires a lot of assets, requires taking their resources, and it's not something that I have a trip previewed at this point in time, but we remain in touch with local officials and certainly, our hearts are with the community as they've gone through such a difficult time."

The next day, Biden cameoed in a TikTok video featuring Bill Nye "The Science Guy" touting the Biden administration's "Build Back Better" agenda as "#cool."

Critics blasted Biden for prioritizing the infrastructure package over the grieving Waukesha community members. Cnservative radio host Mike Opelka bashed Biden for not finding the time to visit Waukesha and meet with the families "destroyed by the (accused) murderer & racist who mowed down dozens."

"He did make it to MN to sell his massive bill and then made this with another worthless Bill. #propaganda," Opelka quipped on Twitter.

Many children marching in the festive parade were left hospitalized, including now-deceased Jackson Sparks and his older brother, 12-year-old Tucker Sparks.

Brooks was charged with six counts of intentional first-degree homicide over the tragic slayings, including an additional count added after the young boy's death.

The Milwaukee district attorney later admitted that Brooks was released days before the mass killing on a low cash bail due to "human error" by an overloaded, early-career assistant prosecutor is the prosecutor's office. The massacre suspect also scored high in pretrial risk asssessment but was released anyways.
