The BBC's upcoming documentary on JK Rowling is being made without her involvement or consultation. The documentary on the  famed author of the "Harry Potter" series will focus on how she became a "polarising public figure." Rowling has been outspoken about the reality that men cannot become women and thereby gained the anger of trans activists.

The two-part documentary is set to detail "one of the towering figures of British literature" and to chronicle "J.K. Rowling’s journey from struggling single mother to the creator of Harry Potter." The BBC calls this "one of the most extraordinary success stories of modern times," saying "the author created a beloved global phenomenon and reshaped our cultural life before becoming one of Britain’s most polarising public figures."

JK Rowling will not be consulted about her life and literary achievements, according to the Daily Mail. A spokesman for the BBC confirmed that Rowling is "aware of the project" but has not been involved in the process.

The first episode will chart "Rowling’s path from a bookish childhood and time spent writing in Edinburgh cafés to unprecedented literary success." The second, however, will follow the author "as she steps out from behind her creation and becomes an increasingly powerful political voice. Amid the rise of social media and intensifying culture wars, her interventions on Scottish independence, feminism, free speech and gender identity place her at the centre of increasingly bitter online exchanges."

Rowling, though she has identified herself as "left-leaning liberal," has been attacked over position that men cannot become women since she first spoke out in 2019. Many actors in the cast of the Harry Potter movies, whose careers were made by their appearance in the films, have disavowed her views on gender.
