President Joe Biden released a proclamation this week declaring June 15 "World Elder Abuse Awareness Day," which resulted in critics pondering whether or not his statement was a personal cry for help.

Biden, 81, encouraged Americans to "improve our Nation's prevention of and response to elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation." This follows a critical performance at the G7 Summit in Italy, in which questions surrounding the president's cognitive health returned to global headlines.

In the proclamation, President Biden wrote: "During World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, we recommit to standing with elder abuse survivors, shedding light on this important issue, and creating a world in which no older person has to live in fear of violence, abuse, or neglect."

"Elder abuse goes against everything we stand for as a Nation - and my Administration is working relentlessly to stop it," Biden continued.

The Democrat president then touted his $30 million budget proposal investment that would reportedly "sustain and strengthen" prior resources his administration has committed to Adult Protective Services.

"Let us remember the integral and irreplaceable role that older Americans have in our families, our communities, and our society," said Biden. "Let us recommit to ensuring that they can live with the comfort, dignity, and respect they earned and deserve."

"I encourage all Americans to be diligent; work together to strengthen existing partnerships; and develop new opportunities to improve our Nation's prevention of and response to elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation," Biden concluded.

Concerns of elder abuse have marred Biden's presidency since he took over the White House in 2021. This is due to the president's many gaffes during speeches, falls in front of large crowds, and appearing to look lost and confused while on stage, among others.

Many social media users have been critical of First Lady Dr. Jill Biden, accusing her of engaging in elder abuse by enabling her husband to lead the free world in a state of an apparent cognitive health decline. The First Lady is often seen alongside President Biden, directing him where to go and what to do and sometimes even speaking for him.

While on the campaign trail for her husband, the First Lady recently pitched the "benefits of age," ensuring that President Biden is "healthy" and "wise."

Additionally, the Department of Justice released a video message about World Elder Abuse Awareness Day and reiterated its initiative in combatting the issue.
