Ossoff told the Atlanta crowd, "see, he doesn’t want to do the job. He wants to build his ballroom and travel with Natalie on their apparently defenseless flying palace, gifted by the Emir of Qatar."
“While the sailors on the Lincoln fight his war, while he fruitlessly drains our munitions and oil reserves, the president sleeps through his meetings. He golfs and trades stocks. See, he doesn’t want to do the job. He wants to build his ballroom and travel with Natalie on their apparently defenseless flying palace, gifted by the Emir of Qatar,” Ossoff said to applause from the crowd. Ossoff is seeking reelection against Republican Rep. Mike Collins.
The comment referenced Harp, a 34-year-old Trump executive assistant who is frequently seen with the president and assists him with his Truth Social posts. Ossoff did not elaborate on what he meant by the reference to Harp. Among those who reacted was Conservative commentator Robby Starbuck, who blasted the senator over the remarks, saying Harp is a cancer survivor who received experimental treatment after Trump approved her access to it.
“Natalie Harp is a bone cancer survivor who only lived because Trump greenlit the right to try an experimental treatment when you were terminal. I met her back then. She went to work for him after recovery. @ossoff is a vile coward for insinuating they’re having an affair. He should apologize to Natalie for doing this. I don’t think any of us would want our daughters talked about like this.”
CNN's Scott Jennings wrote, reacting, "This is quite a message for the Democratic Party to send to young women working in politics. Party of women? Pretty ugly stuff."
The White House quickly responded to Ossoff, with communications director Steven Cheung attacking the senator in an X post. “Jon Jackoff has to be the biggest cuck loser in politics. Instead of denigrating hard-working people serving their country, Jon should look deep into his soul and ask himself why he’s a miserable person who hates this country. It’s because he’s a radical, extremist Dumocrat,” Chueng wrote.
White House spokesman Davis Ingle also attacked Ossoff, calling him “a cringeworthy, feminine theatre kid cosplaying as Barack Obama. Nobody gives a shit what this lightweight loser says."
Human Events contributor and Tennessee State House candidate Kenny Cody wrote, “Natalie Harp is a survivor, leader, and one of the original leaders of the MAGA movement due to what President Trump did for her. The attacks on her are utterly heartless, and deserve no sympathy or attention. The mainstream media is vile. We stand with patriot Natalie Harp.”
Trump was asked about Ossoff’s remarks in the White House on Monday by CNN's Kirstin Holmes and responded by mocking the senator’s appearance. “You mean Pee-wee Herman? Pee-wee Herman look-alike,” Trump said.
The White House would go on to go after reporter Kirsten Holmes personally, in a post, calling her a disgrace to her profession and saying her children would one day come across her question.
CNN would later release a statement backing Holmes, writing: “Kristen Holmes is one of the most respected and accomplished journalists covering the White House. This afternoon, she did her job and asked the President of the United States a tough, relevant, and newsworthy question on behalf of the American people. Public officials are free to challenge reporting they disagree with, but personal attacks on journalists for asking questions are beneath the office and inconsistent with the principles of a free press. We stand firmly behind Kristen and reject these attacks in the strongest possible terms.”
