Dr. Jordan Peterson appeared on The Joe Rogan Experience, where he broke down the situation in Canada and the upcoming federal election.

Rogan brought up concerns about authoritarian governments, to which Peterson offered an in-depth update on the current political climate in Canada, with a pointed warning about Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.

“This is one of the things that worries me about Canada at the moment. I know when we talked a couple of weeks ago I expressed my concerns about what’s happening in Canada,” Peterson said. “I read Carney’s book, Values, I read it twice and I understood it.”

Peterson told Rogan that Carney is “an advocate of centralized planning,” pointing to his support for ESG (environmental, social, and governance) frameworks and net-zero policies as examples. “He was a huge ESG advocate. He organized many large corporations to go down this central planning governance route, because the market wasn’t pricing everything properly, so central planners had to step in,” Peterson explained. “And BlackRock and Vanguard, places like that, were big parts of that.”

Carney, Peterson said, is also “a big DEI advocate” and sees decarbonization as a non-negotiable priority.

“Carney says in his book, this is a good example of this, and I also think a good example of this kind of narcissism we talked about earlier,” Peterson continued. “Every single financial decision that every individual or organization makes has to prioritize decarbonization above all else, or else. There will be many—he doesn’t say casualties, but he implies that—there will be many that pay a price along the way, but it’s necessary. You can’t make an omelette without breaking a few eggs.”

Peterson also noted that Carney believes 75 percent of the world’s fossil fuels need to remain unused. “This is who Canadians are seriously considering electing,” he added.

Rogan compared it to the mainstream handling of COVID-19 information. “The real problem with that is the same problem with the COVID narrative,” Rogan said. “They don’t allow any dissent, they don’t allow any data that conflicts with the narrative.”
