Jordan first revealed in January that the federal government "flagged terms like 'MAGA' and 'TRUMP,' to financial institutions if Americans completed transactions using those terms."
The Canadian psychologist and political commentator has been a vocal critic of "debanking" ever since the Liberals under Prime Minister Justin Trudeau targeted the finances of those who took part in the Freedom Convoy in 2022.
According to the Daily Wire, the hearing will take place on Thursday and will be chaired by Rep. Jim Jordan.
Jordan first revealed in January that the federal government "flagged terms like 'MAGA' and 'TRUMP,' to financial institutions if Americans completed transactions using those terms."
"What was also flagged? If you bought a religious text, like a BIBLE, or shopped at Bass Pro Shop," he added.
In February 2022, Justin Trudeau invoked the Emergencies Act as a last-ditch effort to remove those occupying downtown Ottawa calling for an end to Covid lockdowns and mandates, thereby giving him authority to freeze transactions associated with the protest.
When Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland announced the plan, Peterson sounded the alarm.
"'Accounts will be frozen' means the Canadian government can now steal your money with the collusion of the banks because you provided financial support to a protest against the government," he wrote in a post on X. "If you think this is a good idea you deserve what coming to you."
"Your seizure of Canadian bank accounts was the worst single act of the most reprehensible government in Canadian history," he added. "You and your juvenile WEF-puppet leader [Justin Trudeau] have done the kind of harm to Canada's international reputation that will take years to repair [Chrystia Freeland]. This isn't over."
