Antifa members were later seen in the footage attacking another person on the sidelines, as well as a camera person.
During a Detransition Awareness Day rally in Sacramento, California on Friday, Antifa members attacked a journalist as well as an another man, later identified as Daily Signal contributor Tim Kennedy, leaving him with a bloody face.
A group of around 100 Antifa extremists was seen wearing dark clothing and masks and marching with pride flags, signs, and shields, with Frontlines reporter Kalen D'Almeida getting hit in the face with a long object wielded by one of the Antifa members.
In footage taken by YouTuber Oreo Express, a man was seen afterward with blood streaming down his face as gets assistance from the police, who were stationed a distance away from the group.
According to D'Almeida, the man received a concussion, with his head being split open. Blood was seen dripping onto his clothing.
Antifa members were later seen in the footage attacking another person on the sidelines, as well as a camera person.
D'Almeida told The Post Millennial that upon arriving at the scene, "we discovered that this particular group of militant left-wing radicals was extremely violent and aggressive and were concealing weapons."
He added that soon after arriving, a person ran up to him and his camera man "and pulled out a foot long blunt object and smashed part of the lens on his camera." This same individual, D'Almeida said, later attempted to attack him and "my security detail prevented a potentially fatal attack." His security detail was also targeted, with D'Almeida turning at one point and seeing pepper spray aimed directly at his detail.
In regards to the man who was attacked, D'Almeida said "I tried my best to help guide him to a safer location and directed him to apply pressure to his wound then bandaged."
He recalled witnessing a woman walking amongst the Antifa members in the street with a baby stroller and said, "although we could not see a baby inside the stroller, the purpose was likely to prevent law enforcement from deploying tear gas because of the possibility of there being a baby present."
Twitter accounts @pridewasariot_ and @submedia were both suspended from Twitter, with the accounts calling for violence against the rally.
On Instagram, the @pridewasariot_ posted a flyer calling for action against the rally, stating, "Chloe 'Cole' Brockman and her astro-turfed gang of transphobes are assembling across the street from the CA GOP convention. Last weekend, Chloe spoke at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) where Michael Knowles called for the eradication of transgenderism, to wide applause."
The flyer continued on to call for a "trans day of rage," adding, "we will not go silently. Join our march to the Capital and make our voices heard. Wear black. Cover your face. Watch out for each other. Allies encouraged. Diversity of tactics respected. Be ready to move quickly."
The Detransition Awareness Day rally was organized by OurDuty, a non-partisan group of parents and allies seeking to "bring our children to adulthood healthy in body and mind," who say that medical sex changes of children are "harmful," and that "there really is no such thing as a transgender child."
The rally featured Cole as well as other detransitioners, who spoke about their life experiences during their transition and after detransitioning.
After determining that it wouldn't be safe to continue following the violent group down the street, D'Almeida went to cover the Detransition Awareness Day rally.
"During Chloe's speech the crowd was teary eyed. I was even a little choked up by her story," he said.
D'Almeida said he spoke with a detransitioner named Abel Garcia, "who says that his health is failing due to the damage caused to his body by medical transitioning."
"Ultimately the message that Detransitioners like Chloe and Abel have to share with the community is that no child suffering with dysphoria should be allowed to permanently alter their bodies," said D'Almeida. "They say they care for those who identify as Trans-Gender, but also, that the standard of care must be raised for adults who suffer with dysphoria instead of immediately recommending hormones, blockers and surgeries."
On Saturday, Kennedy identifed himself as also having been attacked at the rally in the Daily Signal.
