Two men in Florida have been arrested for allegedly threatening to kill Republican gubernatorial candidate Byron Donalds. One man was identified as Dominic M. Ambrosia, 30, from Port Charlotte. The other was identified as Daniel Eberly, 43, of Cape Coral.

Ambrosia had written on X in response to a post talking about Donalds, "I'm going to kill him! Thanks Mr. President," per ABC 25. The post was about an endorsement of Donalds from President Donald Trump. After detectives identified X account, they discovered other concerning material from the X account. Officials were able to detain Ambrosia, who lived in a travel camper behind a property in Port Charlotte.

Ambrosia has a previous criminal record, including charges for aggravated stalking against his neighbor. He allegedly threatened to shoot the neighbor's dog and then damaged the mailbox and car.

Eberly had called into Donalds' office and on erratic phone calls said that he would blow up Donalds' office and "shoot every cop," per Gulf Coast News

Ambrosia was taken into custody on May 27 on charges of intimidation, writing, or threats to kill or injure. Eberly was taken into custody on Monday and is facing charges of making a false report of a weapon of mass destruction as well as threats against a public servant. Eberly has a lengthy criminal record and was arrested in 2024 for arson.

Florida Rep. Anna Paulina Luna posted in response, "We were just notified of the horrible and alarming threats made to Byron Donalds. Death threats and threats of violence should never be tolerated in politics and it is important to remember the political climate that we are currently in. I look forward to the individual that made these threats being prosecuted to the full extent of the law, and I know that both local and federal officials are taking this very seriously. Byron is a tough guy, but he and his family does not deserve to go through any of this."
