The trial is set to begin in early June.
The president's son was accused last year of lying on an FBI background check form in order to purchase a Colt Cobra 38SPL revolver. He claimed not to be a drug user when in fact he was, as revealed in his own memoir, Beautiful Things.
According to Bloomberg, Delaware US District Court Judge Maryellen Noreika said during a telephone hearing that the start dates are tentative and that a number of details have yet to be worked through before a final decision will be made.
She noted that there are still motions to toss the case that could be considered.
The younger Biden was charged with making false statements while purchasing a firearm, making false statements regarding information kept by federal firearms licensed dealers, and unlawful possession of a firearm. If found guilty, he could face up to 25 years in prison.
Last June, he was prepared to plead guilty to tax charges with the expectation that the gun charges would be dismissed as part of a plea deal.
That deal fell apart the following month, however, after Noreika realized that in the diversion agreement, both defense and prosecution appeared to have agreed that Biden would also gain immunity for any charges stemming from not having filed as a foreign agent when conducting business deals overseas. The prosecutors explained that this was not their understanding, at which point the plea deal was struck down, and Biden pleaded not guilty.

So, it took private citizens constantly pursuing this, a news chanel reporting on this and release of Secret Service documents to get to this point. If this had been John Q. Public, he would have already been in prison. Funny how the left protects it's own.
