Milo Yiannopoulos' infamous @Nero account has been unbanned from X after a wave of accounts were unlocked this past week.

The unbanning of Yiannopoulos was made known by the account @ALX early Saturday morning.

ALX has been an advocate of free speech on the platform and made several other announcements about accounts being unbanned from the social media platform on Saturday.

After Elon Musk bought Twitter and promised more freedom of expression on the large social media site now known as X, many other controversial figures have had their accounts unbanned.

Yiannopoulos was banned on then-Twitter after he had been temporarily banned several times but was then hit with a "permanent ban" in 2016 when he mocked Ghostbusters actor Leslie Jones on the platform.

At the time, Yiannopoulos told Breitbart, “Like all acts of the totalitarian regressive left, this will blow up in their faces, netting me more adoring fans. We’re winning the culture war, and Twitter just shot themselves in the foot."

“This is the end for Twitter. Anyone who cares about free speech has been sent a clear message: you’re not welcome on Twitter," he added.

As of Saturday morning, he had not posted anything on X. Posts from 2016 are the latest posts seen on his profile.

In a thread in response to Ian Miles Cheong posting about Yiannopoulos being unbanned, Elon Musk posted, "Unless someone is guilty of a probable criminal action, their account will be reinstated."
