JUST IN: Taylor Swift announces engagement to Travis Kelce

Pop star Taylor Swift announced her engagement to Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce, both 35, on Tuesday. Her post to Instagram showed the football player on his knee in front of a large number of flowers, as well as the star's large ring, as her song So High School from her album The Tortured Poets Department plays in the background. 

"Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married," the post's caption read. The three-time Super Bowl champ and 14-time Grammy winner began dating in 2023. Per People Magazine, Kelce popped the question with an "Old Mine brilliant cut" ring from Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewelry.
 

Kelce had attempted to meet Swift at her Eras Tour stop at Arrowhead Stadium in July 2023 but failed. He revealed in his podcast with his brother, Jason, "I didn’t get to hand her one of the bracelets I made for her." Swift made an appearance at his Chief’s game in September 2023 and was spotted watching the game with his mother, Donna, and walking out with his after the game, sparking dating rumors. 

Earlier in August, Swift appeared on the Kelce brothers’ podcast to reveal her upcoming album, The Life of a Showgirl, which will be released on October 3. She said the album "just comes from like the most infectiously joyful, wild, dramatic place I was in in my life, and so that effervescence has come through on this record," and that it is about "everything that was going on behind the curtain" during the wildly popular Eras Tour.

Congratulatory messages poured in across social media, with the NFL writing, "Congratulations to Travis and Taylor."

Brittany Mahomes wrote on her Instagram story, "Two of the most genuine people meet & fall in love. Just so happy for these two," while her husband, fellow Kansas City Chiefs player Patrick Mahomes, reported Swift’s announcement to his story with heart emojis.

2025 has also seen the pop star buy back the rights to her first six albums after years of battles with Big Machine Records, which led to her re-recording some of those albums. Swift wrote at the time, "To say this is my greatest dream come true is actually being pretty reserved about it. All I've ever wanted was the opportunity to work hard enough to be able to one day purchase my music outright with no strings attached, no partnership, with full autonomy. I will be forever grateful to everyone at Shamrock Capital for being the first people to ever offer this to me...My first tattoo just might be a huge shamrock in the middle of my forehead."
