"A Dictator without Elections, Zelenskyy better move fast or he is not going to have a Country left."
"Think of it, a modestly successful comedian, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, talked the United States of America into spending $350 Billion Dollars, to go into a War that couldn’t be won, that never had to start, but a War that he, without the US and 'TRUMP,' will never be able to settle," Trump said.
"The United States has spent $200 Billion Dollars more than Europe, and Europe’s money is guaranteed, while the United States will get nothing back. Why didn’t Sleepy Joe Biden demand Equalization, in that this War is far more important to Europe than it is to us — We have a big, beautiful Ocean as separation. On top of this, Zelenskyy admits that half of the money we sent him is 'MISSING.' He refuses to have Elections, is very low in Ukrainian Polls, and the only thing he was good at was playing Biden 'like a fiddle.'
"A Dictator without Elections, Zelenskyy better move fast or he is not going to have a Country left. In the meantime, we are successfully negotiating an end to the War with Russia, something all admit only 'TRUMP,' and the Trump Administration, can do. Biden never tried, Europe has failed to bring Peace, and Zelenskyy probably wants to keep the 'gravy train; going. I love Ukraine, but Zelenskyy has done a terrible job, his Country is shattered, and MILLIONS have unnecessarily died – And so it continues…..," Trump said on Truth Social.
Zelenskyy's presidential term in office was up in May 2024, but per Ukrainian law, elections cannot be held while martial law is in effect. Ukraine has been under martial law since Russia invaded the nation in February 2022 and Zelenskyy went from wearing a suit and tie to wearing army green sweatsuits.
Biden's Secretary of State Antony Blinken was the one who announced that there would be no elections in Ukraine at the conclusion of Zelenskyy's term, saying that until the war with Russia is over and refugees return home so all Ukrainians can vote, elections would be neither free nor fair. “As soon as Ukrainians agree that conditions allow, all Ukrainians, including those displaced by Russia's aggression, can exercise their right to vote,” Blinken explained at the time. “People in Ukraine and around the world can have confidence that the voting process is free, fair, secure.”
Blinken also said during his visit to Ukraine at the time that the nation had the full support of the United States, saying "The United States has been by your side from day one. We’re with you today. And we will stay by your side, until Ukraine’s security, its sovereignty, its ability to choose its own path is guaranteed. Indeed, the American people’s support for Ukraine has been consistent over the course of the war; it has never wavered. Americans understand that our support for Ukraine strengthens the security of the United States and our allies."
A recent diplomatic trip saw Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent in Kyiv to meet with Zelenskyy on the development of rare earth mineral deposits beneath Ukraine's soil. Human Events' Jack Posobiec was on that trip and revealed that Zelenskyy was not open to that arrangement, despite the massive, $200 billion-plus debt the nation owes to the United States.
That all changed once Trump took office. He had vowed to put an end to the war and to the endless funds and weapons going from the US to aid Ukraine's war effort. Trump wants the bleeding to stop, both in human and economic costs. This plan had Zelenskyy reportedly "stressed" prior to the American transfer of power from Biden to Trump. Rubio and Lavrov met in Saudi Arabia to discuss terms to put an end to the war.
Zelenskyy was infuriated that Ukraine wasn't at the negotiating table. The former actor said that under no conditions would Ukraine abide by a peace deal they were not party to creating. European leaders, too, were incensed and got together in France to complain about it, though they did not offer practical solutions toward peace. They did, however, threaten not to give Trump a Nobel Peace Prize should he secure peace on their continent.
