Vice President Kamala Harris, President Joe Biden, and vice presidential candidate Tim Walz were invited weeks in advance to Monday’s three-year anniversary ceremony for the 13 soldiers who died during a suicide bombing at Abbey Gate in the botched Afghanistan withdrawal. None of them decided to show up. GOP nominee Donald Trump was instead in attendance.

According to Human Events senior editor Jack Posobiec, the White House had been informed about Biden, Harris, and Walz participating in the ceremony for the third time nine days before the ceremony occurred. Two other requests were reportedly made on July 28 as well as August 9 for them to attend. The first two requests were made for Biden and Harris' attendance.

The Post Millennial confirmed with a source involved with the event who said that "they were absolutely invited multiple times through multiple people."

Trump was in attendance and gave a statement afterward, condemning Harris for her involvement in the Afghanistan withdrawal. She previously claimed credit for the decision, saying that she was the last one in the room with Biden before the decision was made to pull out of Afghanistan.

“Caused by Kamala Harris, Joe Biden, the humiliation in Afghanistan set off the collapse of American credibility and respect all around the world,” Trump said during a conference for the National Guard Association of the United States. “It gave us Russia going into Ukraine. It gave us the Oct. 7 attack on Israel, because it gave us lack of respect.”

"Three years ago today, 13 US service members were killed at Abbey Gate in Kabul, Afghanistan — the crescendo of the botched Harris-Biden Afghanistan withdrawal, which ranks among the worst foreign policy debacles in American history," the Trump campaign added. "Three years later, Kamala Harris still hasn't said the names of these 13 heroes out loud — not even once."

The GOP nominee had been invited to the event by Gold Star family members personally to come to the event. When asked about why Biden and Harris were not in attendance at the event, White House national security spokesman John Kirby told the press that there were other ways to honor the fallen without as much "fanfare" or "public attention."

Kirby then claimed that Harris and Biden have a "track record over the last three and a half years" showing their devotion to the "men and women of our military and to our veterans and to their families."

Harris and Biden later both gave written press release statements on the matter, with Biden stating that he carries a "card" with him with the names of those killed in Iraq and Afghanistan, "including Taylor, Johanny, Nicole, Hunter, Daegan, Humberto, David, Jared, Rylee, Dylan, Kareem, Maxton, and Ryan" the 13 servicemembers killed in the Abbey Gate bombing.

Harris also released a written statement, saying that she "will fulfill our sacred obligation to care for our troops and their families and I will always honor their service and sacrifice" as well as listed the names.
