"The Harris campaign certainly spent more than they raised and is now busy trying to fundraise."
The Vice President is still making appeals to donors, asking for more money even though the election is over and she lost, per Politico. Adrian Hemond, a Michigan-based Democratic strategist told the outlet, “The Harris campaign certainly spent more than they raised and is now busy trying to fundraise."
The Democratic Party has been using Harris' email list, sending appeals to small-dollar donors asking for more cash. The campaign has also gotten in contact with larger donors in order to shore up funds to pay their debts.
Senior staff members who were promised payment through to the end of the year have been getting their paychecks terminated, and the debt stacked up by the Harris camp has been blamed. As of Saturday, many of the staff members were faced with getting cut off. After the backlash that has ensued from the decisions, the Harris campaign said that health insurance for those impacted would still be covered through the year, per the outlet.
After Harris' loss, the camping had racked up around $20 million in debt despite raising over $1 billion, and some expenses that have come to light have certainly raised eyebrows. The Harris campaign reportedly spent six figures just on the set of a podcast episode for "Call Her Daddy," a show that revolves around raunchy sex-related topics.
Additionally, the Harris camp spent around $12 million total on private jet rides while on the campaign trail. The Trump campaign, on the other hand, ended the election season with a surplus.
