Brooke Rew, a waitress at a restaurant in Drayton Ontario, was surprised and shocked by the behavior of one of her customers after she told him she wasn't vaccinated yet for COVID-19.
Drayton is a small town on the outskirts of Kitchener.
According to CTV News Kitchener, Rew told them the following during the course of an interview:
"I said, 'Once you're at your table, you can remove your masks,' and that's when he asked me if I was vaccinated, and it kind of threw me off a little bit,"
The customer, despite there being no problems with the service in the course of the meal, said she received a very small tip, and a disturbing note from her customer, which is reproduced above in the article image.
"He gave me something like four or five per cent and said he'd give me the rest when I was vaccinated. The fact that he's basing my tip off of the vaccination, not on the service provided, is really upsetting to me,"
Public opinion on whether it's polite to ask someone about their vaccination status is highly divided in Canada as of the time of this writing.
